Just Do It

This first blog is for all the creatives out there. Do you paint, make music, write, bake,  sew, design, etc? Are you feeling depressed and a little empty? You are probably not fulfilling your creative potential! We are all created in God's image, the Creator of the universe. We were made to create, when we stop...well...life loses its sparkle, its magic, its charm.

I personally start feeling depressed when I haven't painted in a few days. It gives me so much life that I feel the loss when it is missing! Similar to missing a loved one or missing home. If you haven't gotten your creative juices flowing in a long time it will feel more like emptiness and dissatisfaction. It will feel like you are a little lost and trying to find your way.

Well this comes to the title of the blog, "just do it." It is as simple as sitting down and doing it. Everyone goes through a lot of resistance when trying to create. It is risky and brave to make something and put it out in the world. Expect to be met with a lot of a resistance. It always sounds the same... "I don't know how to start, I am not good enough, I can't do it, it will suck, I am too busy."

But wait Jessi, "I AM too busy, I have a baby, I have to homeschool, I work to much." I feel these things too. I am pregnant and homeschooling my daughter. Yes, I could do chores, go to play dates and kid things all day long. I could do that and it would be perfectly acceptable. But when I don't create, I start feeling unfulfilled and frustrated. So I schedule out my day to include my creative outlet, painting. The other fun activities go after that, not before.

If you have many children it is definitely more difficult. But as you follow your dreams you are paving the way for your children to follow their own dreams. They have a beautiful example of a creative and powerful person doing what they were made to do. Children often follow our example more than our words. So no more excuses! Sit down and do it like it is your work! It is kind of like going to the gym, the hardest part is getting there. Once you start and stay consistent for a week or two, you will be hooked! Nothing can stop you! Message me if you have any concerns and I will be here to encourage you! We are in this together.
